|Special feature||Zweitgrößtes Museum der USA|
Designed by prize-winning architect Renzo Piano, the Modern Wing provides a new home for the Art Institute of Chicago’s collection of 20th and 21st century art. With 24,500 square meters of floor space, it made the Art Institute the second largest art museum in the USA. HOCHTIEF subsidiary Turner served as construction manager on this project. The building is a light glass, steel, and limestone wall structure, designed to fit into the 19th century identity of the existing historic buildings. Turner’s contract also comprised various improvements to the technical infrastructure and equipment throughout the museum campus.
