Tips for applicants

Have you decided you’d like to join HOCHTIEF? You can submit an application via our Job Search pages. Be sure to include a cover letter, your résumé, and all the relevant recommendations and certificates. Your cover letter should also contain information on the earliest possible date you can start and the location where you’d like to work. If you’re interested in working abroad, please submit both your cover letter and résumé in English.

The HOCHTIEF application process proceeds as follows: First, we confirm receipt of your application by sending you an automatic e-mail. If your application has impressed us, we will invite you for an initial interview. If that goes well, we will ask for a second interview.

Your cover letter should contain all the relevant information. Tell us in the subject line the position you’re applying for. Remember to provide information about the earliest possible date you can begin and the location where you would prefer to work. Write your cover letter in English if you’re interested in a position abroad.

A good cover letter should answer the following questions:

  • Why are you applying to HOCHTIEF?
  • What qualifications and experience do you have?
  • What are your professional interests?
  • Where and when would you like to join us (location, possibly corporate division)?

A complete résumé (tabular format is preferred) will include your personal data, information about your education and professional training, military or alternative service, university studies, internships, work experience, additional qualifications, and activities outside of work. Please list your professional experience in a bullet-point format. If you’re interested in a job abroad, please submit your résumé in English.

Please send us official references and recommendations from your previous employers that include the period of time in which you worked, descriptions of your responsibilities, and evaluations of your performance. We will also need proof of the diplomas and degrees you list on your résumé (high school, apprenticeships, college). Certificates for continuing education courses are also a plus if the classes you took lasted more than a month and their content was relevant to the position you’re applying for.

Knowledge of HOCHTIEF is definitely a plus in an interview. You’ll find our latest information at our website; the presentation of our Group will provide you with an initial overview.

Our interview questions may include:

  • What’s important to you in a working environment?
  • What qualifications and special experience do you have?
  • What types of challenges have you already faced during your career?
  • Is there one project you can think of in which you would do something different if you had the chance again? If so, why?
  • Why are you looking to change jobs?
  • What benefits do you hope to achieve by doing so?
