Tips for applicants

Have you decided you’d like to join HOCHTIEF? You can submit an application via our Job Search pages. Be sure to include a cover letter, your résumé, and all the relevant recommendations and certificates. Your cover letter should also contain information on the earliest possible date you can start and the location where you’d like to work. If you’re interested in working abroad, please submit both your cover letter and résumé in English.

The HOCHTIEF application process proceeds as follows: First, we confirm receipt of your application by sending you an automatic e-mail. If your application has impressed us, we will invite you for an initial interview. If that goes well, we will ask for a second interview.

Your cover letter should contain all the relevant information. Tell us in the subject line the position you’re applying for. Remember to provide information about the earliest possible date you can begin and the location where you would prefer to work. Write your cover letter in English if you’re interested in a position abroad.

A good cover letter should answer the following questions:

  • Why are you applying to HOCHTIEF?
  • What qualifications and experience do you have?
  • What are your professional interests?
  • Where and when would you like to join us (location, possibly corporate division)?

A complete résumé (tabular format is preferred) will include your personal data, information about your education and professional training, military or alternative service, university studies, internships, work experience, additional qualifications, and extracurricular activities. If you already have professional experience, you should list your responsibilities for each job in bullet-point form. Please submit your résumé in English if you’re interested in an internship abroad.

You will need to submit your technical college entry qualification or university entry qualification and your university/college degree. Please include in your application all the transcripts you have received to date if you have yet to earn your degree. Please also include a detailed explanation of any foreign transcripts that use grading systems different from those in Germany.

Do you already have practical experience? If so, please include with your application all letters of recommendation and certificates from your past jobs/internships. These should also contain information about how long you served in each position. We’d also be interested in seeing certificates for all of your volunteer work, language courses, and project work.
