General questions regarding application process

You will find all current jobs in our job search.

Whom do I approach if I have questions?
For questions related to the respective job offer, you will find the contact person directly in the job advertisement. For questions related to the application process, for instance on the current state of your application, please contact our Application Management by telephone (+49 201 824-1500).

Can I also apply when no job suitable for me is advertised?
Naturally. Even if we are not currently advertising a job that suits you, you can, nevertheless, apply via our online unsolicited application form. Please tell us what apprenticeship you are interested in.

Following a rejection can I apply again later?
Of course. If you have later found another interesting job offer, we look forward to you applying once again. Simply repeatedly look in our job search, to see what apprentice positions are currently advertised.

The application form currently does not function. What should I do?
That shouldn’t happen. We apologize. In this case, please send your application documents to jobs@hochtief.de.

Whom do I approach for reimbursement of my traveling expenses?
When you are invited to a job interview, you will receive an appropriate form. Please fill this in and send it together with your invoices (you are also welcome to send screenshots if they are cellphone tickets) to our Application Management (jobs@hochtief.de).

I do not want to agree to your Privacy Policy. / I do not want HOCHTIEF to store my data. Can I nevertheless still apply?
Unfortunately, we cannot take into consideration your application without you agreeing to let us store your data. Because of data protection legislation, we are obliged to obtain your agreement for this. You can be certain that your data is only used internally for the application and will under no circumstances be passed on to third parties.

Our employees in Application Management are glad to help you on the phone (+49 201 824-1500).

When do I receive the first response to my application?
After you have applied using our online application form, you will get an automatic confirmation of receipt. We subsequently check your documents and contact you as soon as possible regarding the next steps.

What can I do if I have sent an incorrect online application?
Mistakes happen. It would be best if you applied again for the job you want, complete with all documents, and begin your written application with an appropriate reference to your change. We will then delete the incorrect application and only use the correct version.

Can I delete my profile or withdraw my application?
Yes. For instance, if you have already found another apprenticeship or you would like to do something different after all, you can withdraw your application. Please send an e-mai (jobs@hochtief.de) to our Application Management. We will then delete your data.

What happens with my data in the job search and how long are they stored?
After the end of the application process, your personal data are stored for six months in accordance with the data protection agreement and then subsequently deleted. Because we only require your data exclusively for processing your application.

Yes, you are very welcome to apply for several jobs. You either apply via the online career portal for every position individually or you send your written application for an additional job by e-mail to jobs@hochtief.de. Your data are already stored in our Application Management system from the previous application.

What occupations requiring an apprenticeship does HOCHTIEF offer?
We offer occupations requiring an apprenticeship in industrial, technical and commercial areas. You will find all currently advertised apprentice positions in our job search.

How do I apply for an apprentice position?
You can apply for our apprentice positions online via our application form. We require an application letter, your curriculum vitae and your last three half-yearly reports, and possibly your internship references.

When do I apply for an apprentice position?
Generally, we advertise our apprentice positions after the summer vacation for the following training year. From then on you can apply to us. You will find all apprentice positions in our job search.

I have prematurely terminated my apprenticeship. Can I apply for another apprentice position?
You are welcome to apply to us even if you have prematurely terminated your apprenticeship. In our job search, you can find all apprentice positions currently advertised. In your application, please explain to us why you did not complete your apprenticeship.

I would like to complete another apprenticeship. Can I apply for this at HOCHTIEF?
You are welcome to apply to us for another apprenticeship even if you have successfully completed your apprenticeship. In our job search, you can find all apprentice positions currently advertised. In your application, please explain to us why you would like to complete another apprenticeship.

Do I receive remuneration for my school student internship?
Unfortunately, you do not receive any remuneration for a stipulated mandatory internship during schooltime.
Simply ask, whatever this involves. Nobody will put you down. Then things also get better.

Internship

Can I complete an internship between my Bachelor and Masters studies?
Naturally, simply apply for one of the internship posts we are advertising.
If there is no suitable job offer for you there, you can send your documents as part of an unsolicited application via our online application form.

Can I complete an internship after finishing studying?
Yes, Bachelor graduates, who subsequently want to begin their Masters studies are welcome to complete an internship with us. However, we cannot offer any internship positions to Masters graduates, because as part of the Fair-Company-Initiative, we have undertaken not to occupy any career entrant positions as internship positions.

How much time must I plan as a minimum for an internship?
During an internship, we would like to involve you in projects and in our daily business. To enable you to be more intensively involved with your tasks, you should plan at least six weeks for an internship.
Our tip: Through practical experience during your studies you can, on the one hand, test the career waters and, on the other hand, an internship often means more to a subsequent employer than a quick period of studies.

Does HOCHTIEF offer internship positions abroad?
In certain areas, you can also complete your internship abroad. You can find international internship posts in our job search.

Is an online application in English required for an internship abroad?
Yes, please apply for an internship abroad with application documents in English. This enables colleagues at the foreign location to gain a first impression about you and the documents hence provide us with an insight of your English language skills.

Should I have completed an internship in my home country before an internship abroad?
Yes, we recommend that you gain practical experience in your home country before an internship abroad. It is not absolutely necessary for you to have completed such an internship in your home country at our company—but it is frequently the quicker way to assignment abroad.

Do I receive remuneration for my internship?
We appropriately remunerate your internship. The payment varies, depending on what phase of your studies you are in, on duration and whether it involves a voluntary or mandatory internship.

Do I have a right to vacation during my internship?
We grant you vacation within the framework of the German Federal Paid Leave Act (Bundesurlaubsgesetz). Furthermore, you may take unpaid leave of absence for matters related to university (for instance, written or verbal examinations).
Starting after university

As a university graduate, do I join HOCHTIEF as a trainee or direct entrant?
We offer both possibilities. You decide yourself, and this depends on your interests and experiences. Here you can find out how the entry possibilities differ. In our job search you can find all jobs currently advertised for university graduates.

As a university graduate, can I also apply for jobs for people with professional experience?
Yes, if the job description for the desired job corresponds with your qualifications, we look forward to your application.

Are there specific deadlines or time periods for applying to HOCHTIEF as a university graduate?
We advertise jobs for direct entrants and trainees all year round. If you would like to make an unsolicited application, please send your application documents via the online application form three months before your earliest possible entrance date.

I have dropped out of college/university. Can I nevertheless apply for an apprentice position?
You are welcome to apply to us even if you have dropped out of college/university. In our job search you can find all training positions currently advertised. In your application, please explain to us why you did not complete your studies.
