From university straight into the world of tomorrow

Graduates

Whether you directly start a job or participate in a trainee program—you will find the fitting beginning to your career at our company. Here you can find out what skills we are currently looking for and what exactly everyday working life is like as a HOCHTIEF trainee. We also give you valuable tips for your application—so that your start in professional life is a complete success.

Entry opportunities

Choose the right start to your professional life

Do you want to finally enter into professional life after everyday life as a student? And would you like to not only work theoretically but also practically? Then join us. At our company you have two opportunities for starting your career. We support you in finding and pursuing your individual way.

Direct entrance

Are you fully aware of your interests and capabilities and know exactly what corporate area you want to join? Have you already acquired practical experiences during your studies and have a good idea of what you really want to do? Then direct entrance is just right for you. We instruct you intensively for a specific activity and are at your side to provide advice from the very first day. You take over individual tasks in a branch or a department and quickly learn to assume responsibility. We jointly define the framework in which you can make your own decisions. This enables you to already determine how to control your first project in a secure way.

Trainee program

Would you like to take a closer look at different fields of activities before deciding which path to take? During our trainee program, you spend time in different departments and business sectors. This enables you to get to know diverse teams with different cultures and a broad range of tasks. You can also find out “on the job” what particularly suits you and where you envisage your professional career in our Group.

Following your induction period, in the departments you can assume your first responsibility within the framework of your current range of duties and actively cooperate in individual projects. And here we provide you with support and supervision. Furthermore, you get to know many colleagues from different departments, enabling you to establish a network for your professional future in the Group.

Fields of activities

HOCHTIEF opens the door for young talent to pursue the most varied of professions

Have you completed your studies and are apprehensive about what will happen now? Starting a professional career is exciting and eventful. We would like to accompany you along this path and enable you to start your career in different areas.

  • Site management

Site managers ensure trouble-free project progress. They coordinate deadlines and control the work on a construction site. As an up-and-coming site manager, you cooperate in building construction, civil engineering or PPP projects. At our company, you will find the right job, suited to your interests and capabilities, where you can individually develop.

Following your induction period, you successively assume responsibility for individual trades—from bid invitation, budget and planning, right through to coordination on the construction site. Do you have negotiating skills and empathy, in order to negotiate with subcontractors and, in a spirit of respectful cooperation, develop a mutual concept for the course of the project? Then you are just the right person to be our up-and-coming site manager. We look forward to you applying at any time of the year for our advertised jobs for graduates.

  • Consulting & engineering

For preparing, supporting and supervising the operational construction business, we are looking for engineers with different specialized qualifications for the areas building construction, civil engineering, infrastructure and energy. Following a comprehensive induction period, you develop solutions for internal or external projects, where you comply with economically, ecologically and socially sustainable requirements. Together with your team, you plan, develop, conceive and advise in projects at home and abroad. During each step of this project, we ensure that you further expand your specialist expertise. Experienced colleagues accompany you with every development step.

In the areas electronics, structural design, construction management, detail design, transmission line design, information technology, technical building installations and many other areas we are looking for talented staff with whom we can develop new, innovative ideas. You can apply during the whole year for vacancies for up-and-coming engineers.

  • Commercial project management

As project manager, you are jointly responsible for the success of a construction project together with the project team—not only on construction sites but also at branches or in Corporate Headquarters. You are a fully-fledged partner in the team, and advise and support the project management in acquisition, market analyses, in controlling and data preparation. Furthermore, you serve as the interface between the construction site and commercial service areas and control the necessary processes in compliance with deadlines. We promote your entrepreneurial thinking and acting and supervise you through all important steps.

As commercial up-and-coming project manager—preferably from the specialized areas industrial engineering, economics or business economics—you assume responsibility following your induction period. In this way you help to build the world of tomorrow. Does that sound just like the job you are looking for? If so, you can apply during the whole year for our vacancies for graduates.

  • Additional entry opportunities

No matter what your personal focus is, whether analytical or creative, we offer you entry opportunities within the framework of a trainee program or a direct entry opportunity in many other commercial areas, such as controlling, accounting, finances, taxes, human resources, procurement or communications. If you are interested in working in the IT sector or want to deal with legal issues—you are welcome to join us!

Utilize your specialist skills from your studies and internships in construction projects, in our branches and companies or in Corporate Headquarters, and receive comprehensive insights into different aspects. Get to know project-dependent strategies, assume responsibility for tasks and become a member of our interdisciplinary team.

Application tips

  • Letter

If you would like to send us a letter, use it to awaken our curiosity regarding why you want to work at our company and what your merits are. This doesn’t just mean your specialist qualifications and possible previous experience but also your personality. We are interested in the person behind the application.

  • Curriculum vitae

To find out whether we suit each other, we are interested in your school education, professional career and your interests. We can best find out all that in your curriculum vitae. For this purpose, structure your tabular curriculum vitae with a clear overview and provide your personal data and qualifications. This includes your school and college education and—if applicable—professional training, any possible time spent in community service or the armed forces, time spent studying and qualifications, internships and professional experiences, but also additional qualifications, non-professional activities such as voluntary work.

  • Job interview

We would like to talk to you in a pleasant and easygoing atmosphere and get to know you as a person. This will enable us to find out if we have the same chemistry and what we can achieve together.

Tell us more about your educational experiences or about specific projects you have already implemented—whether these were gained at university or in the private sphere. Talk about your personal interests and passions. We are eager to find out what you have to tell us and we look forward to the conversation.
