Klingenberg Big Power Plant, Berlin

Klingenberg Big Power Plant, Berlin, 1926-1927

Between1926 and 1927, HOCHTIEF was building the big power plant at Klingenberg. Technical planning of the expressionist style construction was carried out by Georg Klingenberg, a pioneer of modern power station building. The coal-fired plant was the largest and most modern in Europe when it went into operation. Even subsidiary products were used sensibly: in the neighborhood of the power plant there was a large outdoor swimming pool from 1927, which was heated by the warm cooling water. The water temperatures reached between 30 and 35 degrees.
