Wilshire Grand Center, Los Angeles, USA
At a height of more than 330 meters, the skyscraper Wilshire Grand Center is the highest building in the Los Angeles skyline, and is particularly sustainable: The luxury hotel and office building, which was opened in 2017, was built by Turner and achieved LEED Gold Certification. For instance, innovative lighting and air conditioning systems considerably reduce the building’s total energy consumption. The building is also fitted with rainwater catchment systems, which reduce water consumption by a third. 30 diagonal struts ensure stability in the earthquake-prone area of Los Angeles: these struts are distributed across three different height sections of the building.
