Elbe Philharmonic Hall, Hamburg, Germany
With the Elbe Philharmonic Hall, Hamburg received a new landmark in 2017: In the middle of the harbor, placed on top of a historic quayside warehouse dating from 1963, HOCHTIEF realized the highly complex construction according to plans by the architects Herzog & de Meuron. The outstanding feature is the towering, glass wave crest. One of the world’s best concert halls was built under this roof, together with a luxury hotel and high-quality condominiums. At a height of 37 meters, a plaza offers an impressive panorama view across Germany’s biggest harbor. It is a centerpiece of the project, and was conceived as a public communication area.
