Gotthard Tunnel, Switzerland

World record: The world's longest rail tunnel with a length of 57 kilometers runs right through the Swiss Alps in a north-south direction and thus passes under the Gotthard massif, among other places. Construction of the tunnel will enable freight traffic to be transported in a more environmentally compatible manner. HOCHTIEF and the members of the joint venture completed the tunnel in 2016.

In 2018, the Gotthard Base Tunnel project received the European Railway Award.
