Great Belt Bridge, Denmark

Up high: With over 1.6 kilometers of free span and a clearance of 65 meters, the East Bridge over the Great Belt is one of the longest and most spectacular suspension bridges in the world. The bridge's 245-meter towering pylons form Denmark's highest points.

The superlative structure has connected the Danish islands of Funen and Zealand since 1998. Motorists are particularly grateful for the opening of the bridge, as it used to take them a good two hours by ferry.
