USD 800 million project reinforces Turner’s leading position in fast-growing data center market
HOCHTIEF continues to expand its strong position in the digital infrastructure market. The Group’s US subsidiary Turner has been awarded the contract to manage the construction of a hyperscale data center campus for Meta in Jeffersonville, Indiana. This 6,500 square meter campus will include several data center buildings and will be part of Meta's global technology infrastructure. The data center will represent an investment of more than USD 800 million.
The data center will be built with a focus on efficiency, flexibility and sustainability. Turner will use prefabricated modular assemblies and equipment. Once operational, the Jeffersonville Data Center will be fully powered by renewable energy through investments in new renewable energy projects and, like Meta's other data centers, will be LEED Gold certified by the U.S. Green Building Council. At the peak of the project, more than 1,250 construction workers will be on the job every day. Construction will begin this month.
The digital infrastructure market is an enormous growth opportunity for the whole HOCHTIEF Group: In the first nine months of 2023 Turner has won several large data center projects worth a total of almost EUR 2 billion. In Germany, HOCHTIEF is executing a contract to build and operate a sustainable data center in Heiligenhaus (North Rhine-Westphalia). HOCHTIEF is also building a data center in the Polish capital Warsaw. And in Australia, HOCHTIEF subsidiary CIMIC has been awarded contracts for the construction of data centers in Hong Kong, the Philippines and Malaysia during 2023.
