EUR 242 million project has started
HOCHTIEF will expand Vienna’s metro in the next few years. Public transport operator Wiener Linien has commissioned HOCHTIEF Infrastructure Austria—together with Swietelsky and HABAU Hoch und Tiefbau—to realize two construction lots for the U2 and U5 lines. The three companies are equal partners in the joint venture. The contract volume amounts to around
EUR 242 million, of which HOCHTIEF has a share of approximately
EUR 80 million. The preparatory works have started and construction will probably take six years.
Vienna’s metro is the backbone of mobility in the Austrian capital. Its expansion is a key project for the city’s infrastructure. HOCHTIEF currently is centrally involved in the expansion of inner-city metro and suburban railway networks in many metropolises around the world, for example in Munich, Stuttgart, Prague, Copenhagen and Sydney.
