HOCHTIEF Solutions in a joint venture with the Norwegian company Veidekke Entreprenør was awarded the contract to expand a section of the road and railway project E6 Dovrebanen north of Oslo. The contract volume totals approximately EUR 210 million, of which HOCHTIEF has a 40 percent share (EUR 84 million). The client is Norway’s National Rail Administration Jernbaneverket and the Public Roads Administration Vegvesen. "With this project, we continue our growth in the Scandinavian infrastructure market and further position ourselves as a strong provider for building state-of-the-art transportation infrastructure in Europe," said Ullrich Reinke, member of the Executive Board of HOCHTIEF Solutions.
The joint venture will renew 5.6 kilometers of highway and a 6.8-kilometer-long railway section. This includes construction of a railway tunnel and of two highway tunnels which will serve as environmental and noise protection measures. The design is planned to allow both sections to handle higher speeds and larger transportation volumes after completion of the works. For this purpose, the railway line will be constructed as a high-speed link. Works on the E6 Dovrebanen will start in April this year and are scheduled for completion in 2016.
