HOCHTIEF Building, the Group’s German building construction arm, won numerous new contracts in the first five months of the year. The contracts are worth a combined total of around EUR 365 million. The new projects are not only constructed by HOCHTIEF, but will for the most part also be certified in line with the sustainability rules of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) and receive LEED Gold Standard certification.

“We have successfully expanded our market position, especially in the field of office, commercial and residential properties. One factor contributing to this was that, with our regional branches, we are present on all important markets in Germany and can thus be addressed directly by our clients,” says Gunter Schlomach, General Manager of HOCHTIEF Building.
In Düsseldorf alone, office and commercial buildings with a total gross floor area (GFA) of around 132,000 square meters will be constructed at two locations. The Heinrich Campus with some 70,000 square meters GFA is the biggest single contract of the German building construction arm in the first five months of 2019. The project volume amounts to EUR 107 million. A special feature of the building will be the planned 600 bicycle stands on the ground floor that will be visible from outside. The project plans also provide for a charging station for cars. Client Quantum strives for sustainability certification to DGNB Gold Standard.

At Düsseldorf’s Medienhafen, HOCHTIEF will design and build the MIZAL Office Campus comprising 62,000 square meters GFA for CODIC Development on a turnkey basis and complete with basic fit-out. Striking highlights of MIZAL will be accessible roof landscapes, a boulevard, panorama elevators and an automatic parking system. This project is also planned to achieve DGNB Gold certification.

HOCHTIEF will also build office properties with future-oriented sustainability aspects in Berlin and Hamburg, for example the Weidt Park Corner project. Located at Europacity at Berlin’s main railway station, it comprises three building sections with six or seven stories as well as an 11-story high-rise. The entire building will qualify for LEED Gold certification. New contracts secured in Berlin also include a roughly 90-meter-high office building in the direct vicinity of Mercedes Platz—completed by HOCHTIEF in 2018—and a residential and office property near Potsdamer Platz.

The new contract in Hamburg is for a residential and an office building in Hamburg-Bergedorf. The project is being optimized together with the client in a partnership-based preconstruction process.
