Sydney Airport welcomes the announcement by Tiger Airways Australia to establish a base at Sydney Airport from July 2012. Highlights include:
Sydney Airport CEO Kerrie Mather said, "We are delighted that Tiger Airways plans to establish a base in Sydney, which will double the number of daily flights. Low cost carriers are driving growth in aviation and Tiger Airways is leading the charge with a great product and fantastic fares.
"Tiger‘s resurgence has been a real boon for the travel and tourism sector and more competition means more choice for travellers, whether it be for business or leisure. Sydney is Australia’s premier destination and Tiger Airways choosing Sydney Airport as a base will cement its growth plans. The new base will not only create 150 direct jobs, but also stimulate employment in the tourism and services sectors.
