In the Essen district of Rüttenscheid, HOCHTIEF Projektentwicklung is to construct the new administration building for one of the world’s leading chemical distribution companies: Brenntag will relocate its headquarters from Mülheim an der Ruhr to the Gruga Carree during the second half of 2017. A corresponding lease for the entire building, which has a gross floor area of some 20,700 square meters, has now been concluded.
The six-story House of Elements will be built on the intersection of Messeallee and Strassburger Strasse, close to the Messe Essen. A horizontal building is planned, with four adjoining sections, set at right angles. The ground floor will contain various facilities including a conference zone and the employee restaurant. The office levels will be accessed via a double-height lobby and four building cores, each with two elevators. Overall the building should provide space for around 650 employees. A below-grade garage with about 250 parking spaces is also planned. The House of Elements is to be built in line with sustainability criteria.
Reinhard Paß, Mayor of the City of Essen, declares: "The fact that Brenntag is remaining in the region shows us how important it is for us to offer relevant companies an attractive range of industrial and commercial space. This relocation is a major boost for Essen as a business location."
